17. May ribbon DIY

I made a ribbon to put on a costume on the 17. May (norwegian national day). It is easy - why do't you make your own?

Stich the broach clip to the back of the rose. Stich the button to the front midle. Glue or stich the leaves on the back at the end. The ribbon you can just clip on the back-side.

Hats for the 17. May - the Norwegian National day

Preparing for our big day next Sunday I have made a new hat. This time I wanted to try and crochet the edges in an another colour than the main colour of the hat. Using two of the colours in the Norwegian flag; blue and white (missing red)  it ended up like this.

I also found another way of using one hat I have made before. I simply put a ribbon around it. It changed the shape of the hat and it imidiatly became another favorite.

Finally - new hats

I am really excited over my new hats and I just had to show you. They are easy to make, either you crochet or knit them.

I have made an innerhat so that they keep the shape I want. But the pink and blue hat (at the end) has no innerhat inside which make them more like beanie hats.

This hat has no innerhat inside - and looks more like a beanie hat.

No innerhat in this one either.

2014 is history....

Looking back at 2014 and my hat production I must admit; it has been a more productive year than I thought - and considering that I have hardly been able to make anything this Autumn, I am suprised of all the hats I actually have made. I hope you too had a creative and productive year. ..if not there is always a new chance in 2015....

Happy New Year !

This is some of the stuff I have made in 2014. I hope 2015 will give me the opertunity to make more hats.....

Faux fur - basket hat

My new favorite hat is the faux fur basket hat (as mentioned in earlier posts: inspired by Juanjo Oliva). I made it this spring - but I have not been able to use it until now. The hat is soft and because I have put strings in it - I can shape it as I wish.

DIY hat made by faux fur collar

Last winter I bought a couple of faux fur collars to use with my coats. The winter turned out to be milder than usual and I did not get to use the collars as I planned. Then I got the idea that the collars  would be great to use on a hat instead. So this is the result.

I used a Straw boater hat, and I covered it With padding material/fabric. I put padding on the top too, and stiched it together with the padding on the side.

I crocheted a cover and put it over the padding. I stiched the cover to the padding.

Top of crocheted cover.

This is the faux fur collar I used, bought in HM last Winter.

I put the collar around the hat and stiched it to the cover/padding. I used a special needle for this; a curved needle.

Finally I stiched on an edge. I think it's got a 60's vibe to it.
